This was a custom storage solution I designed to hold a few specific things while keeping the interior contents dry. To provide enough interior storage space while not taking up too much area on the deck I designed the base to lift the cabinet above the house trim that sits on the deck. This allows the back of the cabinet to sit flush against the house. Cedar is the wood that was chosen for this cabinet, which is a great choice for outdoor furniture. It looks nice while being resistant to moisture, decay, and insects. The top, like the rest of the cabinet, is a solid panel made by gluing together boards. Waterproof glue was used to avoid glue joint failure. The hardware is rated for outdoor use as is the spar urethane finish that was used.

Lots of room for cushions, extra chairs, and a bocce set while keeping them dry from rain.
A better view of the top. This provides an extra surface for preparing and/or serving food while entertaining guests outside.
Side view. This also shows how the base raises the cabinet up above the house trim on the deck while allowing the cabinet to sit against the house - all to maximize the interior storage space.
