window seat

A client contacted me to make a top for their existing window seat bench.  They wanted a dark wood and chose walnut for this project.  This was a fun piece to create.  I was able to match the grain across several pieces of walnut so the grain has a continuous flow.  I fastened the seat top to the bench from inside the bench.  This keeps the fasteners hidden from view.  Walnut trim is something that is not readily available, so I milled the trim molding that is along the edges and back of the seat from walnut so everything matches.

Care was taken to grain match the boards used to craft this window seat so the grain would flow nicely from piece to piece.
